One of the main factors contributing to India’s uneven development is the limited access to vocational education.
Despite having one of the world’s youngest and largest workforces, only 3.7% of workers in India have received formal vocational training.

This mismatch between workforce and market needs is particularly evident in fast-growing segments such as beauty and wellness, which have experienced exponential expansion in recent years.
The sector currently employs approximately 12.3 million people, yet only 28.8% have a technical or vocational background, and just 7.4% hold a university degree, demonstrating that skill-based training remains the primary entry point for beauty professions.

As the industry transitions from an informal to a more organised structure, employers increasingly seek certified and multi-skilled professionals, rather than relying on untrained labor. Cosmo Academy – EmpowHER in Beauty has been designed to address exactly this need.

Cosmo Academy provides training programs for young people from the slums of Mumbai and from fragile family contexts, giving them the opportunity to acquire real, practical skills that can immediately be applied in the job market.

Each training cycle lasts four months and focuses on three key areas:
